NEW BEGINNINGS ENTRY FORM

ROMANCE SHORT STORY COMPETITION 2012

First Prize:      One year of RWNZ membership including a subscription of ‘Heart to Heart’, a basket of romantic goodies from Nelson businesses  plus a romance novel by Sue MacKay.

Runner up:     A basket of romantic goodies from Nelson businesses plus a romance novel by Sue MacKay.

Highly Commended: A romantic basket with a romance novel by Sue MacKay.

Conditions of Entry:     

1.        Any unpublished writer over the age of 18 years may enter, apart from the Nelson Romance Writers and their families.

2.        Word count: 1000 words or less. Theme should relate to New Beginnings.

3.        Entries must be typed on one side of white A4 paper. Double spaced. Staple at top left hand corner. No email entries.

4.        Put story title and page number on every page, but your name must not appear on the manuscript.

5.        Include a cover sheet giving your name, postal address, telephone number and e-mail address (if applicable), title and word count of story.

6.        Entry fee: $10 per submission or $20 should you wish to have a written assessment of your entry. You may submit more than one story, provided an entry fee is included with each submission. Entry fee to be sent by cheque or cash only. Cheques made out to:  RWNZ Nelson Branch (please write the exact wording on the cheque).

7.        Stories must be your own, original work, and not previously published or broadcast.

8.        Manuscripts not requiring an assessment will not be returned, so do not send your only copy. Include a stamped SAE if requesting an assessment.

9.        Closing date for receipt of submissions is Monday 1 October 2012. Winners will be notified by 5 November 2012 at the latest, and results will be announced in press media.

10.       Copyright remains with the author, but the Nelson Romance Writers reserve the right to publish entries in the local press and other media.

11.       Prizes are non-transferable.

12.       The winner agrees to have his/her photograph and details used for publicity purposes by the Nelson Romance Writers.
