Wow! For a first novel – I was blown away by this book from start to finish. I loved reading about a heroine as strong and sassy as Louisa was and Joe…sigh….well, Joe was wonderful. An intriguing mix of strength, compassion, wit and sexiness – Joe is every woman’s fantasy we wish would come to life. The pacing of FRENCH KISS left me breathless, the ending of every chapter made me desperate to find out what happens next. The only disappointment was reaching the end. Well done Ms Le Clare, I’ll be lining up to read the next one! LaVerne Clark, 14 June, 2010 ![]()

Understandably you as a writer are right at home in ‘Kiwi Kiss’ and that shows not just in the plot and characters, but also in your writing. CONGRATULATIONS!
I’m very happy for you and a proud owner of one of the first issues of ‘Kiwi Kiss’.

A NIGHT OWL REVIEW by Sarah Dizon | Jun 24, 2011 | B004Z9AH0K
With limited time together, and an uncertain future, what could Mac and Ruby possibly have to look forward to? In the ravages of WWII nothing is for certain and the last thing Ruby wants to do is fall in love…especially after catching her fiancé with someone else. How can she ever learn to love again?
Mac is easy going and just wants to brighten Ruby’s day when he finds her distraught over her fiancé’s betrayal. Yet, he is deploying soon to fight the Japanese and isn’t really looking for love either. But Love has a mind of its own and does not care about war or heartbreak.
Cherie Le Clare weaves an unforgettable story about a soldier dealing with tough decisions and a young woman steering clear of love. Ruby is innocent, sweet, and easy to relate to. Mac is out going, kindhearted, and irresistible. So what happens when those two get put together? Kiwi Kiss does not disappoint romance readers!

Many elements go into a good book: location, characters, dialogue, conflict and emotion. All elements were present in this story of a friendship that flirted with attraction and exploded into love. I enjoyed all the elements of “Kiwi Kiss.” I especially delighted in my introduction to New Zealand–a beautiful country I knew so little of until I read this book. Believable, likable characters that made me care. Emotions that drew me in. Great read!
Romance Studio reviewer says war settings are not her ‘cup of tea’ but she enjoyed Kiwi Kiss. Nineteen year-old Ruby Miller was totally dumb struck as she saw her wedding day go down in shambles while she watched her husband to be kissing another as she entered the registry to get married. She fled in horror. Tear stained, she ran into a marine who was awestruck by her beauty. He paid her a compliment while wild thoughts and disbelief hampered her hearing and she wondered how what she’d seen was possible.
John Mackenzie aka Mac the marine ran after her as he saw she was in distress. He picked up the shoe she’d lost in her haste. Then he found her along the sidewall of a café and gave her the shoe. Their life during World War II became a whirlwind romance in the making.
This story is sensually sweet. I really liked the turns the story took. It’s a nice change reading a story that featured two young adults during WWII. Most of the stories I’ve read or movies I’ve seen about the war had older folks in them. However, I found both main characters to seem older than their young age, probably due to the restrained ways of the 1940′s era.
The novel is not my cup of tea, though someone who is into historical war stories would appreciate the sweetness of it. The story was mainly centered on what was happening to the two main characters. I felt a little lost as to the scenery, even though I did get the reasoning behind the word Kiwi. However, I would have preferred it to be mentioned earlier in the story. I do have some trouble in reading war stories mostly because of the death toll. This story has little to do with the war except for the time John was away, so I found it easier to read.

THE WATER BABY reviewed by Karen at JUST ONE MORE PAGE, 24 Nov, 2011.
I have the honour of knowing Cherie Le Clare, but I have never read any of her work… until now. And I have to admit, I like her style.
Jasmine has run away from the United States and set herself up, in Nelson, New Zealand, as a Real Estate Agent. She is visiting a potential client when she discovers his house is empty, and there is a swimming pool. An incident with a wasp leads to Jasmine and Fraser Brook, the house owner meeting, and the sparks fly.
Jasmine’s motto is never mix business with pleasure, after meeting her first husband through the work that they shared. She married him, it did not turn out well, and Jasmine is determined to not make the same mistake twice. Fraser has other ideas though.
This is a wonderfully well crafted story, full of tension and drama and, of course, love – it is a romance novel!
The Water Baby by Cherie Le Clare
Reviewed at Romance Book Haven, March, 2012 by Maria
This is the second Cherie Le Clare novel I’ve read. The first one was KIWI KISS, a wartime romance, as exquisite a piece of writing as ever I’ve read. This contemporary story THE WATER BABY is completely different, but there’s a common character in both. That’s the beautiful country of New Zealand. It’s not a place in which I’ve ever had much interest, but if it’s on my list of places I have to see before I leave this planet, it’s all due to Cherie Le Clare. Her lovingly crafted prose brings the place fascinatingly alive before your eyes.
Different writers have different types of talent. Some writers have a flow that brings you speedily to a conclusion. Others have the knack of drawing you in and bewitching you, so that you never actually want the story to end. This writer belongs to the second group. This is a book to linger over, to just get lost in.
Not that I’m disinterested in how this couple reaches their conclusion. From the moment Kiwi Frazer catches the Californian Jasmine practically skinny dipping in his outdoor swimming pool, I’ve been hooked. I almost died of embarrassment along with her, could feel the water dripping off as she emerged, mortified from the pool.
Ms. Le Clare is a sensitive writer who is well up to the challenge of chronicling the story of a growing relationship, the journey of two people stepping out of the shadows of their individual pasts and into a future, hopefully a brighter and better one.
As is the trend with contemporary romance today, there are love scenes which are frankly described, but the language used is poetic rather than erotic.
Well done, Cherie, you’ve written a memorable work

A 4 star review on Amazon for TAMING THE BAD BOY.
For those who are familiar with Cherie’s WWII novels this is the opportunity to enjoy one of her contemporary romances. Set in New Zealand (and who better to write about New Zealand than a true ‘Kiwi’?), the story centres around Luke, Katie and Luke’s daughter Emily. The relationships that Katie and Luke each have with Emily are what drives the story and forms the catalyst. The characters are believable and written with both insight and humour while the plot (and I won’t spoil it for you) is both hard-hitting and suspenseful with a romantic conclusion that is both original and charming. Another great read from this talented author.

4 stars from Maria on Contemporary Romance Reviews
Katie Ryan, little Emily’s foster mum, is at her wits end. Just what the heck was Emily’s late mother up to before her untimely death? Who is that vicious punk who comes around claiming that the deceased owes him money? Why is it that little Emily’s real father is such a handsome, eligible man when Emily’s mother had described him as a ‘bastard’? Why was she living frugally when Emily’s father was providing for her as well as he claims to have been? And most of all, who is the mysterious person shadowing Emily, watching her every move and reporting to the social worker all the while about Katie’s so-called failures to take good care of the child?
An immensely engaging story which explores interesting angles on relationships and family life. Why should fathers be shut out of their children’s lives when relationships go wrong? Who is the best person to raise a child, the one who loves the child most or the one who is physically responsible for bringing the child into the world? Is blood really thicker than water?
After producing two exquisite historical novels and a bewitching contemporary romance, Cherie Le Clare now comes up with a sweet romance with a child at the centre written in a a romantic suspense style. A great read which will leave you thinking long after you’ve finished reading the book. Highly recommended.
